The proposed development by the award winning housebuilder will provide a striking and innovative selection of 205 apartments and houses all carefully designed in conjunction with Eco Homes to provide very good standard with a strive towards excellence of sustainability.

The site known as Machynys West, which has been acquired from Carmarthenshire County Council and the Welsh Assembly Government, is going to undergo considerable redevelopment by acclaimed housebuilder Charles Church in order to take advantage of the panoramic sea views. All of the homes at Machynys West will be designed in harmony with the spectacular coastal surroundings, to create an attractive and legible environment which adheres to Eco Homes' ‘excellent' standards.

Charles Church has been building properties of distinction for over 40 years and the contemporary homes at Machynys West are a prime example of their quality craftsmanship. Homes will benefit from unrivalled vistas across Carmarthen Bay and the Gower Peninsula allowing residents to enjoy a superior waterside setting that is the epitome of luxury living.

Leighton Andrews, Deputy Minister for Regeneration, said the development, which would include a percentage of affordable homes, was a boost for the wider regeneration of Llanelli waterside.

"This development sends out a very positive message about the region and the investment opportunities on offer. Subject to detailed planning permission Charles Church will go ahead and develop the site as they are confident these homes will sell because the location is outstanding.

"Receipts from the sale of the land will enable the joint venture between the Assembly Government and Carmarthenshire County Council to drive forward the regeneration of Llanelli Waterside and invest in a number of infrastructure projects and address foul water and surface water drainage issues."

Scott Larcombe from GVA Grimley who acted on behalf of Carmarthenshire County Council on the disposal said: "Machynys West will be an exemplary development which embraces the Llanelli Waterside ethos and represents the next step towards our goal of putting the region on the map as a high quality, innovative and sustainable community."

With a distinctive mix of executive apartments and detached family homes, Machynys West offers a superior lifestyle that caters for a range of purchasers.

Charles Church's distinctive new dwellings will range from affordable one bedroom apartments to five bedroom detached homes with an impressive size of up to 2840 sq ft. The site's proximity to Llanelli town provides the ideal location for modern day living and the sustainable nature of the development will allow residents to enjoy the idyllic surroundings.
