Teacher puts Redrow ‘top of the class’

Rhydian Powell, who teaches sport science at Methyr Tydfil College, has just moved into a new ‘Neale’ townhouse at Redrow’s Gelli Dawel development with his wife and two young sons.
Born and bred in Merthyr, Rhydian, 34, had always set his heart on buying a Redrow house in his home town and when he was offered the opportunity to swap his former home for a new one, without the stress of finding a buyer, he jumped at the chance.
He said: “Redrow offered me a good deal to part-exchange our previous home towards the price of our new house. It was a hassle-free process and meant we could move into our new home much sooner than would have otherwise been possible.
“We chose a three-storey property because it was great value and practical. It has the extra space we need with two young children aged three and five. This development suited us down to the ground as it’s so close to the new Welsh school where the boys will be attending.
“I’ve always wanted to buy a Redrow home because I like the design of the houses and the layout of the developments. We also wanted to buy a brand new home because there is less maintenance compared with an older property.”
Rhydian opted for a beautiful Neale-design town-house with a single garage, en-suite bathroom in addition to the family bathroom, separate dining room, ground floor living area, upstairs lounge and a downstairs cloakroom.
Debby Pavitt, sales manager for Redrow Homes (South Wales), said: “The part-exchange meant there was no threat of a chain collapsing and we were able to take all the potential stress of finding a buyer for Rhydian’s home away, leaving him and his family free to concentrate on their move.
“The option to part-exchange is still available for a limited period on selected plots and we would welcome anyone looking for a beautiful new home to come to Gelli Dawel to see for themselves what the development has to offer.
“We have a selection of three-storey homes available, which are proving very popular with a wide-range of buyers because of the choice they offer in terms of living and storage space. Rooms not needed as bedrooms can double as home office space, a games room or maybe a gym.”
Gelli Dawel is a new development set amidst the breath-taking scenery of the Welsh countryside. The Black Mountains and across the rolling Brecon Beacons provide fabulous walks and stunning views across the countryside for nature and fitness enthusiasts
Merthyr Tydfil boasts a wide range of activities – from the usual shopping and dining, to the more exciting rambling treks through the Taf Fechan Nature Reserve, or taking a trip up on the Brecon mountain railway and taking in the spectacular views – there is something to suit all tastes.
Surrounded by such natural beauty it would be easy to forget that Cardiff is within easy reach of Merthyr Tydfil, and that the town has many facilities close at hand – from high street shops and bustling markets to doctors, dentists, churches and a choice of schools.
There are currently a range of one bedroom apartments available priced from £115,995 and three and four-bedroom home with prices starting from £163,995. Neale-style homes are available from £179,995
