The wanderer returns...to Ebbw Vale Not content with landing his dream job, a Redrow employee has taken it one step further by investing in a property on the very development where he will be selling homes.

Andrew Williams returned home to South Wales after a two-year trip around Australia fearing it would take a long time to get back into employment – how wrong he was.

Redrow Homes snapped him up as part of their trainee sales consultants’ scheme, and he hasn’t looked back. Andrew, 26, has now been taken on as a full-time permanent employee and, after a short spell at Coed Castell in Brackla, he will be based at Cae Ffwrnais, Ebbw Vale from the end of June. And, such is his confidence in the product and the location; he has bought his own apartment there too!

Andrews explains: “I sold my previous property six months before setting off for Australia – it was a snap decision to go travelling and I ended up being away for two years.

“I thought it would be really hard to get back into the swing of things when I returned to Wales – but within two weeks I had an offer from Redrow to take part in their sales training course.

“It went really well and, coupled with my previous property experience working for Barratt Homes, I felt that this was a company I could slot into easily. Redrow have proved me right – they are a fantastic company to work for and offer lots of support from every angle. The training scheme was so useful; it focused on intense learning techniques and gave in-depth knowledge into how Redrow operates.

“My personal target was to have my own development within four to five months, which I have achieved at Cae Ffwrnais. Because it’s yours from the start it feels like your little baby.”

Cae Ffwrnais will eventually consist of 72 new homes, including one and two-bedroom apartments and two, three and four-bedroom homes. The development will feature a selection of homes that are ideal for a wide range of customers – from first time buyers and young couples, to growing families and empty nesters. Prices start from £101,995.

Andrew adds: “There is a great deal of redevelopment happening in Ebbw Vale at the moment. A new railway station is planned to be situated directly opposite the development that will offer a 35 minute link to Cardiff – it opens the Valleys up to so many people. The area had been isolated for a long time but now it has a whole new clientele – it’s improved the area no end.”

Andrew is currently working at Coed Castell in Brackla, a development of one and two-bedroom apartments and three and four-bedroom homes. Currently featured at Coed Castell are a range of two-bedroom apartments and three and four-bedroom homes – priced from £132,995, £159,995 and £181,000 respectively.

Situated in Brackla, the development also benefits from the close proximity to the bustling town of Bridgend that offers a wide range of local amenities. From chic eateries to pubs and cinemas, Bridgend has something to keep everyone entertained. There are also a number of schools in Ebbw Vale as well as a planned hospital and Open University as part of the current redevelopment.

Debby Pavitt, area sales manager for Redrow Homes (South Wales) said: “We are delighted to have Andrew as part of the team here in South Wales. Redrow encourages ambition and we seek the same energy and drive from our employees, which is why we offer our training programme as a way into the company, whatever people’s background or experience.”
