Green fashion for yummy-mummies to be Seraphine, the fashion forward maternity brand, are leading the way in the use of new greener fabrics in their most recent collection. Designed to be worn by both pregnant and non-pregnant women, the new loungewear collection is made from the pulp of bamboo grass.

The collection features a ‘Hoody set’, perfect for yoga or the gym, lounge pyjamas and a night dress. Prices start from £39.

Soft and luxurious on the skin, bamboo fabric has many unique qualities.

Better for the body:

The fabric is light and strong and has both antibacterial and antifungal properties.
Because of its natural insulating properties, bamboo fabric will also keep the wearer warmer in winter and cooler in summer.

The fibre is naturally smooth so there are no sharp spurs to irritate the skin – making it a perfect choice for the pregnant woman whose skin can become sensitive.

Better for the environment:

Bamboo is 100% naturally grown, without the use of pesticides or fertilisers and as a result, plantations can easily be kept organic.

As the fastest growing plant in the world, bamboo grows to its maximum height in about 3 months and reaches maturity in 3-4 years. This and the fact that the yield from bamboo is 10 times greater than that from cotton, has a huge and positive impact on the environment.

The process of making unbleached bamboo fibre is also very light on chemicals that could potentially harm the environment.

Bamboo fabric is 100% degradable.
