Hidden gems amongst Jaeger’s 125 collection

Within Jaeger’s rich archives several hidden gems have been discovered, reworked and updated to suit the demands of today’s Jaeger woman.
The runway coat (so called because it's inspired by a 1968 black and white photograph of a model on an airport runway and also because this coat made an appearance on the Jaeger London runway during London Fashion Week) is perhaps the boldest statement of the group. This black patent leather A-line zip-up style features a horizontal stripe of white shearling. This is repeated in a black-on-black version. The idea carries though to a sweater dress in black-on-black viscose and angora.
Other coats include a 1956 modern Caban coat offered in black or ivory pure wool whipcord, its standout feature being innovative pockets that curve around to the back and a 1963-inspired zip-up ivory and black buffalo check coat, boasting balloon-sleeves and a matching fringed-trimmed scarf.
Jaeger’s archives have also given rise to new ideas in tailoring, best seen in a 1971-inspired black wool jersey tunic and knickerbocker set, a 1968-inspired full skirt in grey wool flannel with waist-cinching wide belt and a pair of long mannish trousers.
Wardrobe separates include a 1972-inspired ivory and black stripy sweater which fastens on both side seams with black resin buttons, and a 1971-inspired ivory ruffled poet blouse in pure crepe de chine with black ribbon necktie and ruffled cuffs. Ruffles filter into evening wear too. Taking their cue from a 1966 photograph of Jean Shrimpton shot by David Bailey, ribbon-belted sheath dresses dance with cascading ruffled necklines and come sleeveless in hammered silk russet and gilt or three-quarter sleeved in a black, modern crepe.
Completing the collection are two 90x90cm scarves; one jumbles up the Jaeger letters in a graphic splashy print in painterly brights, the other takes an abstract approach to the Jaeger ‘straw’ lettering logo. Finally, finish with a pair of black quilted nappa leather court shoes. A first for the 125 collection, this multi-tasking style features a rounded black patent toe and patent trim. Slip on, and wear with anything, anywhere.
