Iceland Express has added its third new flight path in a month to its growing schedule of services. Starting in June 2010, visitors to Iceland can opt for an alternative city break to Reykjavik by flying from London Gatwick to Akureyri.

From Iceland’s first time visitors to its more seasoned travellers, Akureyri features something for everyone.

The fascinating destination boasts a bustling downtown district, lively nightlife and trails that wind through the region’s forests and parks.

“Iceland continues to be a popular destination for British holidaymakers, as it offers a unique holiday for a wallet-friendly price,” says Matthias Imsland, Iceland Express CEO.

“Due to the increasing popularity, we wanted to give our customers further selection for travel around Iceland. Akureyri is a fabulous addition, with its combination of breathtaking nature and lively university town atmosphere.

“The British pound continues its strong exchange rate to the krona, creating a 40 per cent saving for Brits.”

The service from London Gatwick to Akureryi will fly during the summer season on a weekly basis.

The airline has also recently re-launched its operations from London Stansted and will commence flights from Birmingham International Airport in summer 2010.

Iceland Express currently flies daily between London Gatwick and Reykjavik, with flights from just £69.00 one-way including taxes.
