14th November 2009 Print

In celebration of the 15th anniversary of the opening of the Channel Tunnel and on the occasion of the 37th annual Burlington Beaujolais Run, Eurotunnel is, for the first time ever, opening its service tunnel to allow a unique car to drive from England to France. John Surtees OBE, the world’s only driver to become a world champion on two wheels and four is set to create another world first when he becomes the first person ever to drive a sports car through Eurotunnel’s full 31 mile length!

In keeping with Eurotunnel’s reputation as the greenest way to cross the Channel with a car, 1964 Formula One victor John’s chariot for this auspicious occasion will be the ground-breaking Ginetta G50EV – a stunning electric sports car prototype made by iconic British car marque Ginetta.

Two forward-looking businesses, with ground breaking, environmentally friendly products are working together to show the world that low carbon travel is now a real option.
