Renting a Redrow home enables family to try before buying

When their mortgage application fell through Kirstie and Dean Jones feared their dream of owning a new home had been shattered.
But renting a home on the Redrow development at Three Oaks, Aberdare, enabled the couple and their children Kelsy, seven and Grace, five, to test what their new lives would be like before investing.
“We decided to sell our 100-year-old three-bedroom terrace house, and had looked at the latest phase of Redrow’s venture,” Kirstie explained.
“The first house we were going to buy fell through with the mortgage – the lender wanted an extra 5% deposit and we couldn’t afford that.
“We decided to rent in the meantime because we loved the houses so much and were willing to wait and hold out for the mortgage market to get better. By renting a home at Three Oaks for a year we had a real taste of what living here would be like.
“Redrow got in touch again and said there were new houses being released for sale, this time we got our mortgage and that’s how we got our new home.”
The family haven’t looked back since moving to their four-bedroom detached ‘Parrett’-style home.
“It’s a proper family home which allow us and the kids to always be together,” Kirstie said. “The kids absolutely love it, especially the garden.”
“My little boy used to be at his Nana’s a lot at the weekend, but he loves the house so much that he spends all his time here.”
The location of the development was one of the reasons the Jones family decided to make Three Oaks their home. Situated in Cwmbach, the development offers lovely views of the surrounding woodland and countryside. There are also a number of schools nearby.
The property the Jones family bought boasts a superb view of the valley and is not overlooked by neighbours.
“The site itself is quite large but you still feel secluded from everything,” Kirstie explained. “When we viewed the show home we were really impressed by the quality.”
The quality and value for money offered by Redrow changed Kirstie’s perception of newly built homes.
“I was put off buying a new house before because I thought they were on the small side. But with Redrow you get so much for your money. We were really impressed by the house and the quality,” Kirstie said.
Waiting that little bit longer to buy also meant the Jones family received the benefit of Redrow’s new-look upgraded specification giving their new home added appeal.
