New sports facilities have been given to Snodland Council by Ward Homes. The new gym and boxing club has been handed to the Snodland community as part of Ward Homes’ work on a new housing development: Pavilion Place.

The new facilities are located alongside the existing community centre at Potyns Field, off Paddlesworth Road in Snodland, situated between Leybourne and Rochester.

Nick Fenton, Managing Director for Ward Homes, said: “New developments are not just about providing much needed new homes; they also facilitate other community benefits which would not be possible without the contribution made by developers. We are very pleased to see these new sports facilities directly benefiting local residents.”

Amongst those who gathered for the handover of the new facilities were Gordon Court, The Deputy Mayor of Tonbridge and Malling Borough Council, and Chris Block, Chairman of Snodland Town Council.

David Philips, Chairman and Secretary of Snodland Boxing Club said: “The club has been running since 1981 when we addressed the need for a club to give young people in the area the opportunity to learn a non-team sport. Until now though, we didn’t have a purpose-built boxing gym. The facilities here are fantastic and since opening, we have already gained a significant number of people attending sessions with over 50 people using the facilities on a weekly basis.”

David Geely, Town Councillor for Snodland adds: “The sports facilities provided by Ward Homes will be beneficial for the entire community. There are plans for further sports facilities including a bowling green and a five and a half hectare sports ground which will be completely re-surfaced; we hope these will be completed by the end of 2010. Snodland is undergoing some dramatic changes and we thank everyone who is involved.”

New residents moving to Pavilion Place, which comprises 44 new homes, will be able to benefit from these improved facilities and will enjoy the sense of community created by Snodland Town Council.

Attractive street scenes offer a range of different house styles including terraced, semi-detached and link-detached two, three and four-bedroom houses. The showhome, a four-bedroom semi-detached ‘Penshurst’ house, is now available to view.

Homes offer a mix of open-plan layouts as well as separate kitchens and living rooms. All homes boast a landscaped garden and many properties benefit from a garage. There is also a children’s play area and open spaces in the development, making Pavilion Place ideal for families. The location is fantastic for commuters, with Snodland station only a two minute walk from the development and connecting trains into London Victoria and London Bridge taking just over an hour.

New homes currently available at Pavilion Place include three and four-bedroom houses with prices starting from £204,995, ready for Christmas.
