Taylor Wimpey helps scouts build for the future

Taylor Wimpey South East has provided a cash boost to help a Scout group build for the future with a donation towards its ongoing fundraising appeal.
The leading housebuilder presented the 1st Kennington Scouts, based in Ashford, Kent, with a £250 gift towards the construction of a new headquarters.
The group’s existing base, Brenchley Hall, has been open for more than half a century but faces being condemned on health and safety grounds unless it is replaced with a new building.
Taylor Wimpey came forward with the donation after being contacted by the 1st Kennington Scouts, which celebrates its centenary in 2011, about helping with its fundraising campaign.
Mark Pajak, Regional Sales and Marketing Director for Taylor Wimpey, which is currently building a new homes development at Bridgefield, close to the Scouts’ HQ, says: “We’re delighted to be able help the 1st Kennington Scouts with this contribution.
“Every single new home we build is part of a community and we take our community responsibilities very seriously indeed. If ever we receive an opportunity to give that little bit extra, then we will help whenever we possibly can.”
The 1st Kennington Scouts has so far collected £115,000 towards the projected £350,000 cost of replacing its headquarters, and the group hopes to have completed the build in time for its 100th anniversary celebrations next year.
Scout Leader Mike Cullen says: “We’re extremely thankful to Taylor Wimpey South East for this donation. Every penny we receive brings us a step closer to our target and contributions such as this are always gratefully received.”
Taylor Wimpey is currently selling a selection of new three and four-bedroom homes at Bridgefield, located off the A2070 in Ashford.
Repton Park, another popular Taylor Wimpey development of houses and apartments, is located nearby in Maidstone Road.
