Double celebration for Mango Lounge, Windsor
The Mango Lounge restaurant in Windsor, Berkshire has been attracting rave reviews for its style, flair and imagination, not only for the food served, but also the décor and service.
However, it is the imaginative and innovative dishes created by head chef Ashwani Kumar that have stolen the limelight in two recent competitions. Ashwani won the ‘Best Signature Dish’ and ‘Best Traditional Dish’ awards in the competition held during the National Curry Week, which is a charity in aid of the poor and the hungry in India.
Ashwani beat 200 rivals across the country and the award was handed to him by Peter Grove, the founder of National Curry Week. The winning signature dish was ‘rice-crusted king prawns’ served in a shot glass with a trio of chutneys, and the best traditional dish was ‘Lal Maas’, a fiery lamb curry from Rajasthan, western India. Hot on the heels of these two awards followed the prestigious Restaurant of the Year award, an annual competition organized by the Berkshire Media Group.
With the support and guidance of award-winning cookery writer of international acclaim, Mridula Baljekar, who is now an advisor to the restaurant, Ashwani Kumar is set to flourish and take Mango Lounge to new heights.
