Sardinian influenced cuisine arrives in Mayfair

March 2010 will see the opening of Cielo restaurant and lounge. Located at 3 New Burlington Street, in the heart of Mayfair, Cielo will combine a restaurant, lounge-bar, and art gallery, open until 4am.
Cielo’s Head Chef is Sardinian born Monserrato Marini, previously at Caffe Caldesi, Marylebone, and Caffe Campagna, Bray.
He has created a simple Italian menu with Sardinian influences, and dishes will include Culatello di Zibello with pear and acacia honey dressing; Grilled beef “Carpaccio” with balsamic and rosemary dressing, Parmesan and rocket; Fried baby squid, zucchini and white bait; Sardinian pasta with king prawns, squid, clams and mussels; Fillet of lamb wrapped in pancetta stuffed with rosemary and black truffles from Norcia; Grilled yellow fin tuna, caramelised button onions and fennel salad; Stecche di bomboloni with nutella; Panna cotta with Amarena cherries and Tiramisu.
Tobia Speranza, Cielo’s Director, previously at Kicca in Chelsea and Solo in Barcelona, has devised the exclusively Italian wine list, starting from £22 per bottle. The eclectic cocktail list, will be overseen by Andreas Jansson, previously at Cuckoo Club.
The art gallery will display works from a host of new and established artists. An exhibition list will be announced in the coming weeks.
Designed by Italian Architect Rossella Stina, Cielo’s interiors will be contemporary and elegant. The restaurant will seat 24, and design details will include cream leather banquette seating, Phillipe Stark chairs and stools and contemporary chandeliers. The lounge, situated on a mezzanine level, will have an electric glass roof which can be opened during the summer.
Cielo is open from 7pm to 4 am from Tuesday to Saturday.
