Renault launches contestant search for the ultimate road trip

Fancy spending a month this summer driving across Europe, in Renault’s latest two open-top cars, and being in with a chance of winning the £40,000-plus pair of striking two-door models in the process?
If this sounds too good to be true, it isn’t. To support the launch of its two new drop-tops - Wind Coupé-Roadster and Mégane Coupé-Cabriolet - Renault is offering 16 people across Europe the chance to take part in a free trip of a lifetime in a unique online adventure in reality TV called ‘Very Good Trip’.
The latest series of Big Brother and X-Factor finished several months ago, and The Apprentice has yet to come around again, so Renault is plugging the gap for reality show aficionados with Very Good Trip.
Cannes Film Festival launch
From 14 June to 9 July 2010, teams of two from eight European countries, including the UK, will drive across the Continent in Renault’s new Wind Coupé-Roadster and New Mégane Coupé-Cabriolet, immersing themselves in some of the region’s best scenery, cuisine and culture. Every week, they will each tackle a series of tasks encapsulating the idea of freedom, pushing themselves to the limit in the process, vying to become Europe’s favourite dynamic duo to win both cars and several other prizes.
Throughout the pan-European journey, each team will be accompanied by a TV crew 24 hours a day, to capture key moments on the 5,000 kilometre route. The end result will be more than thirteen hours of film on the portal, verygoodtrip.renault.com.
Each team will also be supplied with a digital camera, laptop and 3G key so that they can regularly connect with their followers, keeping them updated on their progress on Renault TV, Facebook, Flick’r and YouTube, as well as pick up their latest well-wishing messages.
All of the latest happenings for your favourite team will be available at the click of a button, any time of night or day, at verygoodtrip.renault.com, or by becoming a friend or contact of your chosen team via Facebook or Twitter.
The Very Good Trip schedule will feature:
A two minute daily bulletin
Weekly round-up previewing highlights of the previous week
Two minute highlights ‘teaser’
X-Factor style ‘best of’ compilation section showing 12 minutes of the most compelling viewing
Paris Finale
The lucky owners of the two new Renaults, who will also receive the financial equivalent of one year’s free fuel and insurance, will be revealed at a Grand Finale to be held at L’Atelier Renault on the Champs Elysées, Paris on the evening of 16th July.
To take part, each pair of entrants must upload a video lasting no more than 60 seconds to renault.co.uk/verygoodtrip, telling why you think you’re both worthy of a place in this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. The site opens on Wednesday 7th April at 13:00 BST and closes 14th May at 23:00. The winning team entrants from each country will be revealed on 21st May at a Press conference at the Cannes Film Festival.
In terms of the competition’s finer details, entrants need not be body-beautiful to be in with a chance of selection. The more varied the entries, the better. The only stipulations are that the entrants must be aged over 18 and both members of each national team have to know each other. Whether the connection is through family, friendship, love or even work, it doesn’t matter. Participants don’t need to worry about their finances either, as Renault will take care of all of the trip’s expenses. But, contestants do need to be able to join Very Good Trip for the full month of the competition.
A very good trip? It could be the best one you ever take. The chances of winning? A lot higher than EuroMillions. What’s stopping you?
