hustings.com provides unique election platform

12th April 2010 Print

The country’s political map is facing one of its biggest challenges ever as election fever grips the whole nation but while the key parties fight for votes on billboards and nationwide tours one website is pledging to help voters really get to know their local candidates.

hustings.com is the brainchild of James Evans and is a politically neutral resource to encourage more people than ever to vote on May 6 – by providing quick and easy access to a wealth of information.

Candidates in marginal seats and key target constituencies are the focus of attention on the website which has seen traffic increase by almost 300 per cent since the election was confirmed last week.

“The website is designed to be the most comprehensive resource in key constituencies and that means offering candidates the chance to get their messages across, for voters to really get to know what their candidates stand for and for undecided voters to compare the polices of parties," said James.

“Hustings.com is a site which wants to encourage people to vote and present candidates of all parties to the voters."

Key features of candidate pages include a photograph, priorities and experience and, crucially, links to their personal and party websites, facebook pages, twitter feeds and video and podcast material together with news stories in the local media.

“This election is being hailed as the first true e-election and by bringing together these essential elements hustings.com can play a key role in helping people make up their minds," said James.

“The fact that all the information is free and it is not a money-making website means that we can be totally independent and provide the information that local voters need to make their vote count on May 6."
