Stephen Fry - The people’s politician
In the week that the main political parties announce their official manifestos, research by Yahoo! has revealed that nearly half of the Great British population (49%) agreed or strongly agreed that a wider choice of candidates would better represent the people in Great Britain. Whilst considering the actual political options on offer in the lead up to the General Election, the people of Britain have voted intellectual funny man and TV host Stephen Fry (29%) as the fantasy candidate they would vote most like to for.
The online research, commissioned by Yahoo! to celebrate the launch of its ‘People’s Policies’ website, highlighted the nation’s thoughts on campaigns that really matter to them. When asked about alternative celebrity politicians, infamous Twitterer Stephen Fry polled highest (29%) as the favourite alternative politician, followed by Gurkha campaigner Joanna Lumley (22%) and TV’s Mr Nasty, Simon Cowell (7%).
East London rapper Dizzee Rascal fared less well in the research and attract less than 1% of the votes, his poor performance could be linked to his appearance on BBC’s Question Time when he stated that he would like to be Prime Minister, but lacked any political knowledge.
The People’s Policies are one part of a new Yahoo!
