Seemingly plucked from obscurity, Edward Maya is a now global phenomenon beating off artists such as Lady Gaga scoring a massive youtube hit with his new single “Stereo Love”.

He now has the keys to the nation ears, with the securing of an elusive Radio 1 playlist spot for single “Stereo Love” and also an interview with BBC newsbeat.

News beat reporter Ollie Wilson declares:

“His single Stereo Love (featuring Vika Jigulina) went to number two in his home country's charts last year and looks like taking over British airwaves this summer. He might have a huge sleeper hit on his hands.”

Poised to take the UK by storm this summer, “Stereo Love” is also Scott Mills’ record of the week.

Originally released in his native Romania in the summer of 2009, “Stereo Love” became a worldwide hit, charting in Greece, Brazil, Albania, Lebanon, Israel, Jordan, Macedonia, Azerbaijan, Portugal, Russia, Poland, the Netherlands, Egypt, Belgium, Spain, Italy, Turkey, Cyprus, and France.

Maya’s first release as an artist, “Stereo Love” hit No 2 on the Romanian charts and has spent 6 weeks in the European Billboard Top 5, peaking at No 2. The song continues to average 2.5 million views per week on YouTube.

Edward Maya is the complete musical package with credits as a producer, performer, composer and musician, and formal training at “George Enescu” Music High School in Bucharest.

Maya spent much of 2009 on a worldwide tour in support of his incredibly successful “Stereo love,” and is currently back in the studio working on new projects as both a producer and artist while completing his final year as a student at the National University of Music in Bucharest.

“Stereo Love” is set be released in the UK on 9th May 2010.
