New passport cover makes travel safer
The ultimate travel accessory is no longer the latest ‘i’ gadget or the newest facial spritz. Smart travellers can now make sure their most important piece of ID is properly dressed and fully protected with the launch of the myID range of passport covers (itsmyid.co.uk). myID passport covers not only look the business but will protect a biometric passport from being cloned at home or abroad.
The myID Executive passport cover is made from super soft black leather designed to withstand the rigours of travel. At £19.99 it arrives stylishly packaged in a gift box making it an ingenious present for frequent travellers. Alternatively, the myID Traveller passport cover is available in attractive brown faux leather and is priced at £11.99.

All passports issued within the UK since March 2006 contain biometric technology, meaning they feature a chip which contains information unique to the holder – such as facial features. This information can be read using Radio frequency identification (RFID) technology. However, there have been concerns over the security of the passports with criminals potentially able to access personal information using easily available RFID readers. This information could be used to clone a passport. With RFID reader technology, the criminal does not even need to be in possession of the biometric passport, but can download information from a distance of a few metres.
Responding to these concerns Avid Products has launched myID passport covers. Incorporating RFID blocking technology hidden within both the front and back covers, myID passport covers offer maximum protection without compromising on style.
“myID passport covers not only protect passports from wear and tear but ensure personal details remain personal.” said Victoria Barrett, Marketing Director of Avid Products. “Most people are unaware of the possible risks associated with the new biometric passport. myID makes protecting your ID simple, just pop the passport in the myID cover like any normal passport wallet and get on with your trip without worry.”
