Buyers travel 400 miles to choose their perfect home

Choosing the right home for you and your loved ones is a big decision, but how far would you go to make sure you made the right choice?
Nicholas Harnett, 36, and wife Emily, 34, travelled from Ystrad Mynach, near Caerphilly, to Chorley in Lancashire to help them make their minds up.
“We lived in South Wales and had looked at so many new developments when we stumbled across Redrow’s Cwm Calon venture. We’ve changed our minds about houses before, so when we reserved a home from the New Heritage Collection off-plan we wanted to make sure it was the right one for us. Because the houses here weren’t finished yet we travelled to Buckshaw Village in Chorley to see the homes that were already built,” Nicholas explained.
“We’ve bought six or seven new-build homes from different builders but this will be our first Redrow one. The properties are all lovely – we couldn’t have made a bad choice.
“I like traditional homes with large living rooms and big bathrooms. Ours is a ‘Windsor’ and has the character of an older property but with a modern interior. I’m hopeless at DIY so it’s got to be new-build for me as everything’s done for you. The New Heritage Collection at Cwm Calon ticks all the right boxes.”
The family decided to rent a home on an earlier phase of Cwm Calon to help familiarise themselves with the area, the drive to work and for Alliah, 11, to settle in at school.
“It’s very peaceful and seems quite rural but isn’t far from anything. It’s only 20 minutes on the train to the centre of Cardiff,” bank worker Paul said.
Current availability at Cwm Calon includes a selection of two, three and four-bedroom homes. A three-bedroom ‘Warwick’ home from the New Heritage Collection could be yours from £184,995.
Redrow’s New Heritage Collection of family homes features traditional looking exteriors influenced by the Arts and Crafts movement, combined with modern interiors designed for 21st century living.
