Residents get active at Adlington House

According to researchers taking part in a new study* playing the Nintendo Wii Fit could improve balance and help avoid falls in seniors - and residents at Adlington House in Rhos-on-Sea have taken this news on board.
Adlington, the site developer, has presented them with a £5,000 activities cheque to be spent on setting up social activies and equipment and their first purchase has been a Wii games console.
Since its launch in 2006 the Nintendo Wii has seen a huge rise in the number of older players. As Sales Advisor, Phil Holyoak can confirm: “Since having the Wii Fit plenty of the residents have been practising ready for our ‘Wimbledon’ themed afternoon tea party later in June. It’s great fun and is definitely a talking point at Adlington House!”
Other ideas for spending the generous £5,000 have been art classes, Bridge lessons and trips to the theatre but future residents will also have a say in how some of the money is spent as some has been held back for future use.
Designed exclusively for the over 55s, Adlington has a variety of apartments in Rhos-on-Sea which offer home buyers both independent living and a helping hand in the form of tailored 24-hour on site care packages from MHA (Methodist Homes for the Aged).
All of the apartments have generous living spaces, a good-sized master bedroom with fitted wardrobe, shower room with heated towel rail, a store room and a beautifully appointed kitchen with a full range of integrated appliances. And, while many apartments benefit from either a patio or balcony with sea views, there are also beautifully landscaped shared gardens for all the residents to enjoy.
But it’s not just within their own apartment that residents at Adlington House will enjoy the lap of luxury; there’s also a range of on-site facilities including communal lounges, a library/computer suite, hairdressing salon, exercise room and a Bistro; so residents will have everything they need literally on their doorstep.
In terms of its location, the new homes in Rhos-on-Sea are perfectly placed for both those seeking a more leisurely pace of life and those looking to make the most of an active retirement. Lying within walking distance of the seafront and local shops, Adlington House is well placed for the broad range of sporting and social clubs in the area, such as golf and sailing.
Prices for the apartments range from £140,000 to £360,000. To see the stylish apartments for yourself, visit the Show Suite, open daily from 11am to 4.30pm.
