Discount dining in the West Midlands

The Midlands’ very own discount dining card has just unveiled its new website with the promise that the number of featured restaurants will double over the next year.
The site has won the backing of Marketing Birmingham leaders who say it is a great way to raise the profile of restaurants in the city and throughout the region.
Emma Gray, Head of Marketing Services, says: “The food sector plays a big part in the region’s economy and promotions that encourage people to spend time in its restaurants can only be good for the city.”
The Gastro Card launched in 2008, promoting discount deals at top eating venues throughout the region. It was the idea of former National Exhibition Centre exhibitions director Trevor Land and retired PricewaterhouseCoopers accountant Geoff Abbot. They were recently joined by prominent Midlands businesswoman Jilly and Midlands businessman Ajay Dohia.
Jilly explained: “Joining the Gastro Card team was a no-brainer really. It is a fantastic concept that promotes the Midlands in all the right ways. The first two years have already been successful but we now aimed to move up the gears as the new website goes online.
“We want it to become a symbol of quality and style that will be welcomed in the region’s top eating out venues. We already have a good reputation in the area but, believe me, that is going to soar over the next 12 months.”
