Sizzling success at Lychgate Gardens

Over 200 people enjoyed a wide range of exciting family activities in glorious sunshine, ensuring the ‘Sidings Sizzler’ event at Taylor Wimpey’s Lychgate Gardens development in Radyr, went with a bang!
As part of this year’s Radyr & Morganstown Festival, the house builder sponsored and hosted the successful ‘Sidings Sizzler’ family event. Visitors enjoyed various activities which included dance and drama, circus skills, sumo wrestling, bouncy castles, stalls, a delicious bbq, along with musical entertainment provided by a local DJ. Later in the day, adults participated in a wine tasting event which included complimentary pizza, cheese and pate supplied by local businesses.
Sara Taylor, sales and marketing director for Taylor Wimpey South Wales, said: “It was great to see so many people having such a good time, demonstrating the very strong community spirit that exists here in the village. The delicious food and numerous activities ensured it really was a day to remember. We see our new homes as being very much part of the village so, to showcase this, we offered to host one of the fun-filled family events at the development.”
“Lychgate Gardens is the third phase of our Radyr scheme and, having built for several years in this picturesque location, we were honoured to get involved in the Radyr & Morganstown Festival. The event is a highlight on the community’s annual calendar, very much involving all of the residents and, as a part of that community, we were delighted to be able to support the Festival as its principal sponsor."
In addition to hosting the ‘Sidings Sizzler’, Taylor Wimpey’s sponsorship helped fund two further events as part of the Radyr & Morganstown Festival. Namely the highly successful Festival Fete, as well as the open air concert in Parc Radyr, which featured a number of local youth bands.
David Cargill, Festival organiser, commented: “We were really pleased with the success of the ‘Sidings Sizzler’, as part of the wider Festival, which brings the communities of Radyr and Morganstown together to raise funds for our nominated charity – Ty Hafan, the Children’s Hospice in Cardiff. We are grateful to Taylor Wimpey for their generous financial support and co-operation and would also like to thank local businesses who provided support at the ‘Sidings Sizzler’ event, including Café Lazio and the Veg Vendor. We look forward to following up this year’s Festival with an even more impressive range of events in 2011.”
