South Wales kids urged to stay away from building sites

As the school summer holidays get under way, Barratt South Wales is warning youngsters to stay away from construction sites in South Wales.
While areas where building work is going on can look like exciting places for children to play - they also pose serious dangers, says the five-star rated housebuilder.
“Youngsters are often on the lookout for somewhere new and exciting to play, but construction sites are not adventure playgrounds,” said Adrian Bird, sales director at Barratt.
"As the school holidays are with us again, it is important to remind children and their parents about the potential dangers of building sites and the need to stay away from them.
“We have active sites across the region. Our construction teams watch out for youngsters while they are working and we secure our sites when we finish for the day. But we also ask parents to make sure they know where their children are during the holiday time,” Adrian continued.
Barratt holds regular safety talks and site visits for schools close to where it is building, to highlight the hazards of playing on or near building sites.
“It’s important to get youngsters thinking about the dangers that exist and hammer home the message that they should stay away,” he added.
