Taylor Wimpey sales consultant prepares for Bristol Half Marathon

Taylor Wimpey sales consultant, Evelyn Sliman, is in the final strides of training as she prepares to compete in the Bristol Half Marathon this weekend in aid of Bath Cats and Dogs home.
Since she first started running just four months ago Evelyn, 35, has competed in two 10k runs and is now ‘em’barking’ on her first ever half marathon on Sunday 5 September, spurred on by a hearty donation of £500 from her employer Taylor Wimpey.
‘Pawsing’ in between training Evelyn, from Taylor Wimpey’s Selwood Grove development in Frome, Somerset said: “I only started road running in April and have been training three to four times a week, with one run a week being around eight miles. Completing the half marathon will be a great achievement for me and I’m hoping to do it in less than 2.5 hours!”
Evelyn will be pounding the streets of Bristol city centre with over 16,000 runners to complete the 13.2 mile course and raise money for Bath Cats and Dogs Home.
She continued: ‘I chose Bath Cats & Dogs Home charity because everyone at Selwood Grove adores them so I thought it would be nice to give the centre much needed funds. I’ve looked around the home today and the animals are all so loveable and helpless it makes you want to take them all home. It’s great that Taylor Wimpey’s sponsorship of £500 will go towards giving the pets a comfortable and loving home while they’re in the care of the brilliant staff at the centre.”
Rachel Phelps-Allen, spokesperson from Bath Cats and Dogs Home, comments: “We are really grateful to enthusiastic supporters like Evelyn who take the initiative to help raise crucial funds to help us care for the hundreds of dogs, cats and small animals on site. As an independent, self-funding charity we are totally reliant on fundraising, donations and legacies. Every penny helps and will go directly towards benefiting our animals. We would like to say a big thank you to Evelyn and Taylor Wimpey for their kind donation.”
Bath Cats and Dogs Home has just launched their Happy Homes Appeal to enrich the lives of animals and help to reduce stress within the kennel and cattery environments. Taylor Wimpey’s donation will contribute to building an enrichment paddock for dogs to help relieve boredom, whilst specialist toys will help to relieve the stress, monotony and loneliness that kennel life can often bring.
Selwood Grove is a collection of two, three and four bedroom homes located less than a mile from the centre of Frome. A selection of three and four bedroom homes is currently available and prices start from £184,995.
