Nikon my Picturetown - Store and share your memories
Nikon has launched a faster, smoother and even more feature-packed version of its photo and video storage and sharing service, my Picturetown. The service has been comprehensively enhanced, enabling members to store and share memories even more easily, and includes enhancements such as Facebook photo sharing and a PhotoMovie function.
Nikon my Picturetown allows members to upload and securely store photos and organise them into online collections. Available in free or paid-for versions depending on the amount of storage space needed, the new version of my Picturetown now offers the ability to share photos with Facebook in a matter of seconds. Members can use my Picturetown to store their original high resolution pictures securely, then upload them in only three clicks to the popular social networking site.
One of the key upgrades to the service is a novel tool called PhotoMovie, which allows members to create slide shows of their collections using a range of different templates and types of slide transition, set them to music of their choice and share with friends and family.
Mark Pekelharing, Product Manager Consumer Products at Nikon Europe B.V, comments: “Many people like to share photos with their friends on social networking websites, but also want to securely store their memories in high resolution elsewhere. With the latest version of my Picturetown, you can now keep the original files safe and secure with Nikon, but quickly and easily share a lower resolution copy on Facebook or other websites. We’ve also focussed heavily on making my Picturetown run more smoothly. It’s now slicker, faster and even more intuitive to use.”
Nikon my Picturetown is available for owners of any brand of camera, including mobile devices such as the iPhone. For the iPhone, a special application has been developed to allow members to manage and share their memories on the move. my Picturetown is also tightly integrated with ViewNX 2, Nikon’s recently-upgraded image-browsing and editing software which is bundled with all new Nikon cameras. Non-Nikon camera owners can download the software from the Nikon website free of charge.
The my Picturetown service, which is available in five European languages (English, German, French, Spanish and Italian), features a free membership option of 2GB, allowing approximately 500 images to be stored*. Members who require additional storage capacity can upgrade to a Gold Account membership giving storage capacities ranging from 20GB to 200GB, starting from a low monthly fee of €2.99.
