Model aircraft fans are in for a treat when the Heritage Motor Centre hosts the annual ‘Large Model Association Static Display and Trade Show’ on Sunday 24 October from 10am – 4pm.

Organised by The Large Model Association, this fantastic indoor show will feature over 100 large radio controlled model aircraft, many of which have starred in feature films and on TV. Last year the show attracted over 2,000 visitors but with even more to look at this year, numbers could increase.

Models will include Wellington, Lancaster, Vulcan and Victor Bombers all with wingspans from 10ft - 22ft. Visitors will be able to watch modelling demonstrations, model aircraft engine start-ups and enjoy a hands-on opportunity to fly a radio controlled model simulator to see if they can be a large model pilot in the future. Rides on one of the front line RAF jet simulators will also be available (separate charge applies). There will also be a special display to mark the 70th anniversary of the Battle of Britain.

In the run up to the show a radio controlled Victor Bomber will be on display in the museum. The crews of the Victors were trained at RAF Gaydon which is now home to the HMC. Visitors will also be able to watch footage of the LMA Flying shows taken during the summer in the cinema throughout the day.

John Bishop, Car Clubs & Groups Co-ordinator at the Heritage Motor Centre stated “The Large Model Aircraft show is a fantastic show celebrating the design, build and flying of large model aircraft. We will have an extensive range of magnificent aircraft plus simulators, films and a large trade element for visitors of all ages to enjoy.”

Normal entry fees apply giving access to the museum and the Large Model Aircraft Show; however visitors can take advantage of the Museums ‘Gift Aid' scheme by choosing to Gift Aid their entry on arrival and receive a 12 months entry ticket at no extra cost, so they can return for a whole year - for free! (terms & conditions apply). Museum entry fees are: Adult £9, Concession £8, Child (5-16), £7 Family, £28 (2 adults and up to 3 children). There is a reduced entry price for LMA and BMFA members.
