Modern homes with a traditional twist in Carmarthenshire

Redrow's exclusive New Heritage Collection is coming soon to Cross Hands in Carmarthenshire, bringing instantly recognisable traditional homes which combine the best of old and new.
The brand new £9 million development, named Maes Rhedyn, will launch on October 9 / 10 and will feature 56 two, three and four-bedroom homes from Redrow’s New Heritage Collection; a premium housing product with more than a hint of nostalgia.
Influenced externally by the ‘Arts and Crafts’ era, inside the homes boast a specification to meet the needs of modern lifestyles. Redrow has deliberately set out to reintroduce a high degree of individuality to the way its homes look and feel.
The venture marks a move further west for Redrow Homes, cementing the company’s commitment to expanding their South Wales operation west of Swansea.
A fully furnished and professionally decorated ‘Warwick’ show home will open over the launch weekend, styled by Intu Interiors, giving buyers in this part of Wales their first opportunity to see the New Heritage Collection in all its glory.
The three-bedroom property will feature a luxurious colour scheme of gold, mustard and cream to inspire buyers looking to own one of these high quality family homes.
The lounge features a sumptuous textured cream and brown sofa, with a hint of opulence added by the subtle gold thread running through the fabric. The wallpaper also has a hint of gold leaf, while ‘chunky’ dark wood furniture adds a contemporary element to the room.
In bedroom three the designers have opted for a quirky Monopoly theme with a wall mural featuring Welsh Street names and a specially created ‘go to jail’ symbol – a nod to the area’s history as a cross over point for prisoners destined for jails in Carmarthen and Swansea.
Rachael Davies, area sales manager for Redrow Homes (South Wales), explains: “Feedback from the majority of our customers tells us that they want a conventional two-storey home, preferably detached, with an easily accessible garage and a garden of their own. They want something that looks traditional, perhaps evocative of the family home they grew up in, but they want it to have the latest statement-making kitchens, bathrooms and good quality fixtures and fittings.”
Some of the external features which typify the Arts and Crafts era - and will be seen in varying degrees on the Cross Hands homes - include dropped eaves, projecting plinths, bays and other distinctive window styles, often with leaded lights. Other highlights include timber or tiled canopies over doors and windows, supported by decorative gallows brackets, and the use of larch lap boarding, while front door styles and colours also reflect the ‘heritage’ feel.
These traditional exteriors hide a contemporary interior specification, featuring convivial open plan living spaces, fashionable kitchen designs with floor to ceiling units, central islands and top brand name appliances, plus bathrooms that are sleek, modern and pleasing to the eye.
Maes Rhedyn benefits from excellent local amenities including shops, supermarkets and schools close by. The area is well-served by public transport and there are good road links to the A48 and M4.
Prices will be announced at the launch event, being held on October 9th and 10th between 10am and 5.30pm. For more information, visit Redrow.co.uk.
