Family find new home with character in Bearsted

When Ruth and Samuel Corney decided to move, they did not consider living in a new-build home because they wanted a house that was full of character. That was until they saw the quirky, individual homes at Oast View by award-winning housebuilder Millwood Designer Homes.

“We had been living just down the road in Grove Green for two years,” says Ruth. “We decided to get married and four weeks after the wedding I fell pregnant. With our family about to increase in size, it was time we moved to a larger home and so we started looking around.

“Samuel comes from London but he knew of Bearsted because, as a cricket nerd, he knew that the first ever over-arm ball was apparently bowled on Bearsted green. I think this was probably the main reason he wanted to live here!”

“It was certainly an appeal,” jokes Samuel. “We knew we wanted to stay in the area we were living in as Ruth’s two sisters and their children still live in Grove Green. We actually looked at two homes in Grove Green and three in Bearsted before we came across Oast View. All of the homes we looked at were older properties and, to be honest, we didn’t really want to buy new. Most new-build homes I have ever seen lack character and charm, but then I stumbled across Oast View on a property website and was instantly drawn to the development’s established appearance.”

“When we first went to look at the development,” continues Ruth, “it was still in the construction stage. We found it hard to imagine the end result and, even though we looked round other completed Millwood developments and were really impressed with what we saw, in the end we decided not to go for it and made an offer on a different house in Bearsted. Luckily for us, that fell through, so we decided to take another look at Oast View.

“When we returned, the development was completed and we were really impressed with what we saw. The sales lady, Pam, showed us around and I have to say, she was absolutely fantastic – a true credit to Millwood, and I cannot rate her enough. Very friendly yet extremely professional, she completely sold Oast View to us. We fell in love with one house in particular and decided to make an offer.”

So the customer service has been a good experience for you?

“Absolutely!” Says Ruth. “Everyone at Millwood that we have dealt with has been fantastic. The customer service team has been most helpful, always calling back quickly and making sure any issues or queries were resolved as promptly as possible. They have all made it very easy for us and it’s rare to find customer service like that any more! We would definitely recommend Millwood to our friends and family.”

So what was it about this home that made you want to buy it?

“The quality of the home is phenomenal, it really is second to none,” says Samuel. “We have three friends who have bought new-build homes in the last six months and they have had a lot of problems and are still doing snagging lists six months down the line. With Millwood, however, I cannot rate the high standard and exceptional build of the homes they produce highly enough.

“The master bedroom is very spacious and I absolutely love the fact that it gives parents their own space. There is a fantastic large kitchen, which was really important to us as it is the hub of family life. We get all the perks of living in a brand new house but you wouldn’t think that the homes at Oast View are new-builds. Millwood Designer Homes is very skilled when it comes to designing new homes that have a more established appearance, giving them plenty of character and charm. If it wasn’t for Millwood, I doubt we would have ever bought a new home.”

All available homes are now sold. However, the four-bedroom detached show home will become available in the future.
