And the winner is Bermuda

2nd November 2010 Print

Condé Nast Traveler readers know a thing or two about travel, so Bermuda was thrilled to receive the Best Island in the Caribbean/Atlantic award at the recent Condé Nast Traveler Readers Choice Awards.

Over 30,000 Condé Nast Traveler readers voted in the awards and Bermuda did well in all of its categories with The Reefs Resort picking up the award for Top Resort in the Atlantic. Other resorts in the Top 10 of that category were the newly opened Tucker's Point Resort and the Fairmont Southampton.

Bermuda also did well in the Caribbean World Awards, picking up the award for Best Island. A fantastic result especially since Bermuda is not technically in The Caribbean!

"We are honoured that Bermuda was selected by Condé Nast Traveler readers as the number one travel destination in the Caribbean and Atlantic" says William Griffith Director of Tourism for the Bermuda Department of Tourism.

"It is a privilege to be ranked so favourably with travellers and is a testament to the commitment of service that Bermuda provides to travellers year round."

It is not only Condé Nast Traveler and Caribbean World who have recognised the desirability of Bermuda as a top tourist destination. Park Hyatt has recently agreed to build a brand new resort in the UNESCO Heritage Site of St. George. Work on the new Park Hyatt Bermuda is scheduled to start in November 2011 and is anticipated to take between 24 - 30 months.
