When housebuilder Charles Church enlisted the help of Year 3 and 4 children from Cornist Park School to help design a bedroom in the new showhome at its Cornist View development, little did they know their creativity knew no bounds!

The pupils were asked to design their dream bedroom and wowed Charles Church with their 3D models of the room they were appointed to help style. Staff had a tough time choosing a winner however, after much deliberation the judging panel chose a striking rainbow design, submitted by eight year old Olivia Brookes.

Claire Jarvis, sales manager for Charles Church North West, the developer behind the Cornist View development off Windsor Drive, said: “We chose Olivia’s rainbow design as it was particularly striking – it was so bright and colourful and her attention to detail was first class. The results are fantastic as I’m sure anyone who views the property will agree.”

Eileen Wilcox, Charles Church’s interior designer, added: “Her plans for the room were so ambitious that we had a tough job taking her design to the finished product however, I’m sure we have done it justice. Olivia has designed a bedroom any youngster would be proud to have and she’s done an amazing job. I’ll be watching my back as she definitely has a talent for design!”

Charles Church bosses invited Olivia to officially open the showhome at a ‘ribbon cutting’ ceremony held recently and the company presented Olivia with WH Smith vouchers as a thank you for taking part in the design competition. In addition, each of the entrants was also awarded a token prize.

Anyone who would like to view Olivia’s work in the three bedroom detached Rufford showhome can do so at the Cornist View development which is open Thursday to Monday from 10.30 to 5.30pm. Homes on release at the development are currently priced from just £136,995.
