With the World Cup Mens Downhill and Men's Super G kicking off in Banff Lake Louise November 27th, the Canadian ski seasons kicks off super early this year.

Blackcomb Mountain has 2800 feet of vertical open for riding and skiing today and mother nature has also brought an early start to Big White and Kicking Horse Mountain Resorts.

"All indications show that thanks to La Nina, the 2010/2011 season will be an incredible one for skiers and boarders", says Michael Ballingall, Senior Vice President at Big White.

"Weather experts are predicting that precipitation will be normal to well above normal for the Pacific Northwest region. Our team at the resort is ready and eager to get this season started".

Back at Banff, the WinterStart Festival returns with two weekends of ski racing and a day to celebrate all that is Christmas in the Rockies. First up on the WinterStart agenda is the Bombardier Lake Louise WinterStart World Cup Races. The call has been put out for more 'cowbells' to cheer on the world's top alpine ski racers as they start the World Cup Ski Season November 27th with the Men's Downhill and November 28th with the Men's Super G. After a four day brief hiatus, the cowbells will ring once more when World Cup Fans head back to the Lake Louise Ski Area to cheer on the Ladies Downhill races on December 3 and 4 and the Ladies Super G on December 5th.

Kicking Horse is also opening early with a bonus weekend of operations on December 3rd with good snowfall accumulation over the past three weeks. The opening comes one week ahead of the scheduled opening date.

"We are excited to be kicking off our 10th Anniversary Celebration Season ahead of plan", says Steve Paccagnan, President and CEO of Kicking Horse Mountain Resort.

"This is only going to heighten anticipation in the ski and ride community. With our 10 year celebrations, the La Nina weather systems due to blanket the mountains this winter and the soon to open 4th Alpine Bowl, Superbowl, the spotlight is going to be on Kicking Horse Mountain Resort this winter".
