Air Southwest joins global distribution system

Flights on UK regional airline Air Southwest are now accessible through the global distribution ticketing system (GDS).
Air Southwest’s access to GDS comes through a codeshare with the airline’s new owners Eastern Airways.
The move is part of Air Southwest’s strategy to broaden its sales channels among corporate travel bookers, travel agents and travel websites.
Commercial director Mike Coombes said: “Air Southwest operates in a fiercely competitive market and we want to take advantage of all opportunities and outlets.
“By combining our proven and cost-effective model of website sales with worldwide distribution systems we can tap new markets and ensure that our flights are globally accessible.
“This is particularly important for our customers through international hubs like Gatwick. The increased exposure of our year-round scheduled services to Devon and Cornwall is good news for us, our customers and the South West.”
Air Southwest’s availability on GDS is being backed by a national marketing campaign to the travel industry.
Air Southwest, which is based in Plymouth, operates year-round services to the South West from a range of cities across the UK, Ireland and Channel Islands with no-nonsense fares inclusive of all taxes, charges and 20kg of baggage.
Air Southwest is the largest operator from Newquay Cornwall Airport, the sole airline operator at Plymouth City Airport, in addition to offering flights to and from Bristol Airport.
