Taylor Wimpey’s Easy Start shared equity scheme is available now on selected new homes at Birling Grange, the leading housebuilder’s sought-after development of new homes in West Malling, Kent.

Would-be homebuyers who fear the first rung of the property ladder may be out of their reach can receive financial assistance at Birling Grange, Taylor Wimpey’s sought-after development of property for sale in West Malling.

The leading housebuilder is offering qualifying first-time purchasers the chance to own selected new apartments and houses for sale in West Malling now for just 85% of the price under its Easy Start shared equity scheme.

With a deposit of as little as 5%, subject to status, the lucky customers are provided with up to 15% equity towards their home in the form of an interest-free loan. The manageable loan repayments can then be made in up to three instalments over a 10-year period, at the market value of the property in West Malling.

One of the new flats for sale in West Malling is the gorgeous two-bedroom ‘Alexandra’ apartment, with en-suite master bedroom and allocated parking, available for just £148,745* under Easy Start at Birling Grange, with a deposit from as little as £8,750.

Meanwhile, the superb three-bedroom Plot 58 ‘Stanley’ house, with living/dining room, separate kitchen, en-suite master bedroom, parking and private garden, is just £208,245* with Easy Start, and can be reserved now with a £12,250 deposit.

Fiona Creed, Senior Sales Manager for Taylor Wimpey South West Thames, says: “With the help of Easy Start, qualifying first-time buyers with a 5% deposit can effectively put down 20%, giving them access to the mortgage they need – and the chance to own a home right now.”

Birling Grange is being developed on the site of the former Leybourne Grange manor house and hospital and will comprise houses and apartments, community and leisure facilities – all surrounded by some 140 acres of public open space that includes parks, sports pitches, play areas, allotments, orchards, an arboretum, footpaths and picnic areas.

The development boasts extensive green credentials, with every new home designed to exceed the eco-friendly requirements of new-build properties, with significantly lower carbon emissions than standard homes thanks to a variety of design initiatives including low-energy lighting and energy-efficient appliances.

One in five homes will also include grey water recycling, while selected properties will benefit from solar heating to cut energy bills.

The redevelopment of Birling Grange forms part of the Hospital Sites Programme run by the Homes and Communities Agency (HCA), the national housing and regeneration agency, to bring 96 former hospital sites back into productive use. As well as working with Taylor Wimpey to develop the site, the HCA is providing funding to ensure new and affordable homes are available for the local community.

In time, the development will also enjoy a good selection of local amenities, including a community centre, a convenience store, a school and a health centre.

Local facilities already within a short cycle ride include infant and junior schools, shops and pubs, while nearby Aylesford is home to a wider choice of shopping and schools for youngsters of all ages.

As well as its proximity to good rail connections, Maidstone is only seven miles away by road, and the M20 is a short drive from the new homes.

To find out more about Easy Start at Birling Grange, property-seekers can visit the Sales Information Centre and showhome, located off London Road, Leybourne, near West Malling, and open seven days a week from 10.30am to 5.30pm.
