Virgin Media to open London’s best connected members’ club

17th March 2011 Print

Virgin Media has unveiled its plans to create the best connected private members’ club and event space ‘Our House’, from Monday 28th March until Thursday 21st April. The company’s ultrafast 100Mb fibre optic broadband and its next generation entertainment service – Virgin Media TV powered by TiVo - will be showcased throughout the central London location of the House of St Barnabas, providing the perfect environment for lucky members to stay connected whether at work, rest or play in the capital.

Having recently launched two market leading broadband and TV services, Virgin Media has a lot to shout about and there’s no better way to demonstrate these innovative, exciting products than to feature them together in one space.

‘Our House’ will have ten individual spaces – seven rooms, plus a bar, private garden and its very own chapel. Each of the seven rooms will feature the very latest technology from Virgin Media and its partners, tailored to suit individual needs. This includes The Broadband Lounge, powered with 100Mb fibre optic broadband, and WiFi throughout the venue, including the private garden. It will also feature The TiVo Lounge, allowing guests to check out the very latest next-generation TV service whilst providing the perfect place to relax. The Gaming Room will showcase the best in connected gaming and, whilst mobile phone use in the house will not only be allowed but actively encouraged, there will also be a quiet room for those looking to catch a private moment.

‘Our House’ will have a busy schedule of events and activities in place throughout the four-week period – including film screenings, intimate acoustic gigs in the chapel, photography exhibitions, plus private launch events and meetings. Members will be kept up to date with a weekly newsletter and select events will be open to the public, with details published in advance confirming how to secure tickets.

Open Monday to Friday, 9am to 11pm, members of ‘Our House’ will be able to book rooms, host meetings, order refreshments and make use of all of the facilities throughout the day. Membership will be free and is by invite only from Virgin Media.

Virgin Media will also be continuing to support the charity during the takeover and will be leaving the House of St Barnabas with the cabling infrastructure so that they can continue to benefit from the fibre optic network long after ‘Our House’ closes its doors.

Simon Dornan, head of PR campaigns at Virgin Media, said: “The superiority of our network really has to be seen to be believed. It’s all very well boasting about how fast our 100Mb broadband is or how compelling our new TiVo powered TV service is, but we want people to experience it for themselves. ‘Our House’ is the perfect vehicle to do that - a central London private members’ club offering superb connectivity with the latest technology and entertainment, as well as a chance to support a worthy organisation.”

‘Our House’ will be supported by a mix of forward thinking brands and brand allies of the Virgin Group including technology partners Nokia and Sony Ericsson, drinks brands Bacardi and Lanson and complimentary refreshments from Nespresso, Teapigs, Tyrrells, Gu, Britvic and Divine Chocolate.
