Lunches get lighter at Ember Pubs

Stand aside soup – from Wednesday 6th April lettuce will become our likely lunch as national pub group Ember Pub & Dining reveals the day that Brits make the switch from soup to salad.
As the days lengthen and thoughts turn towards summer bodies and lighter meals, statistics from Ember Pub & Dining show that 6th April is when diners’ will chose healthy plates of salad and vegetables over warming bowls of creamy soup. Ember’s statistics show that it experienced a significant rise in sales of salad alongside a drop in sales of soup on this day in 2010 and is expecting a similar switchover this 6th April.
Andre Johnstone, senior marketing manager at Ember Pub & Dining, comments: “With the long bank holidays approaching and beer gardens across the country calling, it’s no surprise that guests at Ember are choosing a summer salad over a creamy soup. Our sales records show a distinct switch between soup and salad at the beginning of April – and we expect our guests to be lining up for our lettuce again this year.”
With Somerset Brie and Grape leading the salad selection at Ember Pub & Dining, guests also have the choice of a filling Chargrilled Chicken, Bacon and Avocado salad with mixed leaves and honey and Tewkesbury mustard dressing. But, knowing the unpredictable British weather, Ember will still have its daily soup special along with its Smoky Tomato and Davidstow Cheddar soup available throughout the summer.
