Ricky and Victoria Hodges have just moved to a new four-bedroom townhouse at Fairview’s Evolution in Ashford, Kent.

With three kids – Jack, 11, William, 7, and Sophie, 6 – the Hodges’ wanted to live in a family-friendly area, close to schools and green open spaces. At Evolution, they have bought into a development that offers all of these benefits to them.

“Our old house was outside Ashford, which meant it always took a bit of time getting into town for commuting to work, shopping and going out,” says Ricky, a workforce development officer for Network Rail, based in Paddock Wood. “On top of this, the kids’ schools weren’t as good as the ones in central Ashford and the area we lived in was a little bit noisy at times.

“We were just beginning to look at our options when we came across the new homes at Evolution. Immediately it seemed like the right choice for us due to the excellent location; within walking distance from great schools for the children, Ashford International station for my commute to work, and the central amenities and facilities for the whole family.”

Ricky continues, “Now we are happily living in a much more child-friendly location which the kids absolutely love. They are using the ‘study’ as their playroom and are very excited for the gardens and adventure park to be finished in summer.

“I have grown up in Ashford and am very happy to invest long-term in the area. It is currently an excellent place to be with the new international links and business centres driving investment and growth. We plan to stay in this house until the kids have grown up and left home.”

The Hodges’ part-exchanged their property for a four-bedroom townhouse with a back garden and separate garage at Evolution.

Ricky finishes, “Having Ashford International station just a 10 minute walk away makes a massive difference for me and the family. Although we haven’t told them yet, we plan to take the kids to Disneyland Paris next year on the Eurostar which is so convenient from our new home!”

Evolution is a development of one and two-bedroom apartments as well as three- and four-bedroom houses set around landscaped gardens and a newly built children’s play area. The new homes are just a 15 minute walk from Ashford town centre and from Ashford International station. The recently opened high speed bullet train travels to London St Pancras in just 38 minutes. Trains from this station also regularly depart for Paris, Brussels, Lille and Disneyland Paris.

Since the opening of the bullet train last year, Ashford has become a viable location for many London commuters and an ideal choice for those looking to purchase an excellent value new home.

The stylish new properties have open-plan living areas and fully-fitted kitchens with fan ovens, electric hobs and washer-dryers. Each house and apartment is built with the environment in mind, with heating and hot water provided by a condensing boiler and a renewable energy system (houses only), and minimum 75% energy efficient light fittings.

Ashford is one of the government’s key growth areas, with an estimated £2.5 billion development strategy in place, and plans are afoot to create 28,000 new jobs in the area. The scheme is rapidly creating a town centre that will combine modern shopping malls and pedestrianised streets with first-class leisure facilities and popular cultural attractions.

Prices for new homes at Evolution start from £119,950 for a two-bedroom apartment and £199,950 for a four-bedroom house.
