Home-buying dreams come true in Wrexham
Like so many young couples, Craig Rudd and Sarah Brooks worried they’d never be able to afford a home of their own.
But thanks to Taylor Wimpey’s Easystart scheme the 26-year-olds have just enjoyed their first summer barbecue in their new, dream property.
They picked up the keys to their smart, three-bedroom house in April after taking advantage of the housebuilder’s valuable shared equity initiative, which allows you to own 100% of your home for just 85% of the price.
And as Craig explains, it was the best move they’ve ever made.
“Easystart really is as good as it sounds,” he laughs. “We’ve been able to get the property we wanted, at a price we can afford – and we’re loving every minute of it.
“We’ve already been making the most of the good weather and having a few barbecues, so we feel settled.
“The house is amazing but without Easystart we couldn’t have hoped to buy it.”
The couple found out about the shared equity initiative after viewing properties at the prestigious Mountain View development near Wrexham.
Impressed by the large selection of two, three and four bedroom houses on offer, as well as the spectacular scenery and surroundings, they decided to try and make their home there.
After speaking to the sales team, Craig, a heating and plumbing engineer, and Sarah, a nurse, opted to use Easystart to reserve a three-bedroom Shannon style home.
Using the scheme meant they were able to own 100 per cent of the £149,995 property from day one but pay just five per cent deposit up front, securing a mortgage on 80% of the purchase price.
The remaining ten per cent was made up of an interest-free loan, split into affordable, monthly payments.
Craig says: “It was so easy. Within a few months we had sorted out our mortgage, reserved our home and moved in.
“People think there must be a gimmick but there really isn’t one. It’s just an easy way to make your move happen.
“Without Easystart we wouldn’t have been able to buy so we’re very grateful.”
