Perfect timing at Swale Park

You can spend ages searching for a new home, but sometimes it all comes down to perfect timing, as Dawn Miller found to her advantage when buying her two bedroom house at What House? Housebuilder of the Year Weston Homes’ Swale Park development in Whitstable, Kent.
Born and raised in the Whitstable area, Dawn, 51, has now lived in the house for just over a month with her 15-year-old son, since she first put down a deposit in September 2010 when buying off-plan. It was her son’s keen eye that first bought Swale Park to her attention when he insisted they took a look around and after visiting the show home, Dawn found the home she wanted.
Dawn, a manager of nursing home, comments: “My house at Swale Park came along at just the right time. Fortunately, I was chain free, renting for a year whilst looking to buy my own home. One day my son and I were shopping in the Tesco’s close by to Swale Park and he insisted that we go and have a look at the development. Each property is different from anything else in Whitstable and I fell in love with it straightaway.
“Although I bought off-plan, Weston Homes had the two and three bedroom show homes up and running so that people could see it in the flesh. All the plans and lay-outs of the houses were on the wall, so it was easy to visualise my house and come back to compare sizes.
“The sales staff were very friendly and the sales process as a whole was very easy. I knew how much mortgage I was allowed to have, so the finances were all agreed. The houses were so affordable and the high specification makes for a fantastic home.”
Swale Park is located on Thanet Way on the outskirts of Whitstable, between the sea and the Kent countryside. When complete, this idyllic development will comprise of 236 contemporary homes, in a variety of sizes, styles and lay outs offering accommodation that appeals to everyone from young professionals and first time buyers to families and investors.
Dawn added: “Having spent all my life in Whitstable, I wouldn’t want to live anywhere else in Kent. Whitstable is a lovely little seaside town with lots of character and Swale Park is conveniently located close to work and very central to everything, with the beach and Whitstable Town Centre nearby.
“I looked at a few other properties, but the one thing that really sold it for me was that my house had a large garden. Although the house was smaller compared to some of the other properties at Swale Park, I had an extra window in the downstairs lounge as well as in the bathroom.”
Bob Weston, Chairman and Chief Executive of Weston Homes, comments: “Swale Park offers high quality, contemporary homes providing good value for money in this fashionable part of the Kent coast, which combines a rich heritage with excellent transport links to London and the South East.”
