New homes in Hoo St Werburgh are ideal for families

First-time buyers Kerrie Vernon and Alfie Gardner found an ideal place to raise their family at Taylor Wimpey’s The Pastures development of new homes for sale in Hoo St Werburgh, near Rochester, Kent.
Kerrie Vernon and Alfie Gardner were struggling to get a foothold on the property ladder – until they discovered The Pastures, Taylor Wimpey’s sought-after development of houses for sale in Hoo St Werburgh.
The young couple and their two-year-old son Archie were looking to leave their rented accommodation in Allhallows, Kent, for a family-sized property for sale in Rochester or the Hoo peninsula.
After searching for new homes in Rochester and new build homes in Hoo they thought their dream home would be out of reach, until they spoke to a Sales Executive at Taylor Wimpey’s The Pastures development of apartments and houses in Hoo St Werburgh.
It was there that they found that they could afford a top-notch home to be proud of by using the leading housebuilder’s 5% Gifted Deposit incentive.
Kerrie (21), says: “When we found somewhere we liked, at first we thought that our deposit wouldn’t be enough to secure us a mortgage.
“But, after visiting The Pastures and explaining our situation, we found we were eligible for Gifted Deposit, which amounted to about £8,000. This, in turn, opened up a number of mortgage deals to us, and now we have our very own three-bedroom house.”
Kerrie, a lettings agent for an estate agency in Chatham, was well placed to judge Taylor Wimpey’s standards of customer service throughout the buying process, and gave the leading housebuilder the thumbs-up.
She says: “We’d visited quite a few new developments belonging to other developers, but the team at The Pastures were far and away the best we dealt with.
“I have to thank the Sales Executives, as they have been so helpful and friendly. I couldn’t have asked ask for a better service. Being in the sales industry myself, I have learnt a lot about customer service from them.
“They didn’t use jargon, but explained the whole process in easy to understand language, which for us, as first-time buyers unfamiliar with the Gifted Deposit scheme, was really appreciated.
Now Kerrie, Archie and Alfie (23), a radiographer based in Strood, are enjoying life in their three-bedroom ‘Alpha’ house.
“We love it,” says Kerrie. “We had a look in the showhome at The Pastures, which was just fantastic, so knew we’d be getting a really nice and light property with good-sized rooms.
“It’s great to have a new build as you don’t have any problems with the structure, or anyone’s DIY mistakes, either. Everything’s nice and fresh.
“We also like having the luxury of an en-suite bathroom, and it’s so good we tend to use that as our main bathroom!”
Having both attended school in Hoo St Werburgh, Kerrie and Alfie are well-acquainted with the area, and can’t sing the praises of The Pastures’ location enough.
“Here you have the best of both worlds,” explains Kerrie. “We’re 10 minutes from some fantastic countryside and all the pretty little villages, plus there’s a lovely farm shop down the road. We’re also just 10 minutes from Rochester, which has everything you need shops-wise and for entertainment.”
A wide selection of high-quality properties is currently on sale at The Pastures, including two-bedroom coach house apartments from as little as £139,995, three-bedroom houses from just £184,500, four-bedroom homes from only £234,500 and five-bedroom detached houses from £349,995.
Homes at The Pastures are set around an attractive green with a pretty duck pond, and have Hoo’s village amenities on the doorstep including a parish church, recreation grounds, schools and a choice of pubs. Hoo Common and the Marina offer ample opportunities for leisure, including walking, cycling and boating.
Just a stone’s throw away are the Medway towns of Rochester and Gillingham, home to a wider range of shopping and leisure opportunities in addition to regular, 50-minute rail services from Gillingham station to London Victoria. The Pastures is also within easy reach of the Channel ports and Eurostar services.
