Additional date for sell-out Gala Dinner for Thackeray’s 10th Anniversary

Celebrity chef Richard Phillips is hosting a third Gala Dinner to celebrate the 10th anniversary of Thackeray’s on 30th November.
The original dates of 16th and 23rd November 2011at Richard’s flagship Tunbridge Well’s restaurant, sold out shortly after being announced – proving the demand for fine dining in Kent.
Richard will prepare a 10-course tasting menu featuring a favourite dish from each year since the restaurant opened at the three special dinners.
Vintage wines that will be at least 10 years old will accompany each course.
The evenings will begin with champagne and canapés at 7pm with the dinner service at 8pm. The cost of the evening is £175 per person. Booking is essential.
“The longevity of Thackeray’s and the loyal support of customers is testimony to the standards we set and the team’s dedication to ensuring consistency, in the kitchen and front of house, for a decade,” said Richard Phillips.
Richard began his career at London’s famous Savoy Hotel, going on to work alongside the likes of the Roux Brothers at Le Gavroche and then becoming Head Chef for Marco Pierre White at The Criterion, Mirabelle and Les Saveurs. He won his first Michelin star in Thackeray’s debut year – the first restaurant outside London to do so, before the age of 30.
Numerous other accolades for Thackeray’s include three AA rosettes and ‘Best Gourmet Restaurant’ in the Kent Restaurant Awards in 2009.
Richard Phillips took ownership of Hengist in Aylesford, near Maidstone, turning it into an elegant and intimate dining experience, itself now an award winning restaurant.
In 2008 was offered the opportunity to create another outstanding restaurant alongside England’s leading wine producer at Chapel Down, gaining two AA rosettes and Kent English Restaurant of the Year 2009, Richard Phillips at Chapel Down is fast becoming one of Kent’s leading.
Acquisition of The Pearson’s Arms by Richard Phillips in Whistable in December 2010 completes the stable.
A champion of Kentish produce gives regular cooking demos at local farmers' markets and food festivals; judges national and local cookery competitions and works closely with Produced in Kent.
Whilst being at the helm of four thriving restaurants, Richard is now a recognised television personality; regularly appearing on popular shows including, ‘Lorraine’, ‘GMTV’, ‘Ready Steady Cook’, ‘Saturday Kitchen’ and ‘Daily Cooks Challenge’ and ‘Cash in the Celebrity Attic’.
