Mallorca Sotheby’s International Realty co-sponsors Poppy Ball

As the Royal British Legion prepares for its 90th anniversary in November, Mallorca Sotheby’s International Realty is honoured to offer its sponsorship to the annual Poppy Ball which takes place in the City of London on anniversary eve.

The Chairman of Mallorca Sotheby’s International Realty has had a long-standing affiliation with the much-respected charity and feels privileged to be able to align the worldwide real estate brand with such a worthy cause. The 2011 Poppy Ball is to take place in the home of one of the oldest liveries dating back to the 1660s. Dinner will be set against a dramatic backdrop of royal portraits and magnificent ceiling paintings depicting Shakespearean scenes whilst guests will be seated at long tables – mess style – with over half the chairs in the hall dating back to William IV (1765 – 1873).

Entertainment will come courtesy of an 18-piece military Big Band as well as a Silent Auction, Live Auction and a Golden Raffle. Some of the lots up for grabs include a beautiful poppy brooch designed by Garrard exclusively for the event, passes to Red Bull hospitality at the Monaco Grand Prix and dinner onboard HMS Victory in the company of the Ship’s Commanding Officer.

The Royal British Legion provides financial, social and emotional support to millions who have served, or are serving, in the Armed Forces, and their dependents. Founded in 1921, the charity is best-known for its role as the nation’s custodian of Remembrance and for the Poppy Appeal which is organized annually. £90 million is the target for fundraising in 2011, a million pounds for every year of the Royal British Legion’s existence. The Mallorca branch of the charity will sell poppies and organize events to contribute to this total – as will many other branches in Spain and worldwide.
