Beat rising fuel bills in a new home in Doncaster

Designed to maximise efficiency and minimise waste, new Redrow homes in Doncaster could hold the key to keeping warm this winter.

Well insulated, with double glazing and central heating included as standard, new Redrow homes at Danum St Giles are among just 1% of the nation’s homes that achieve a ‘B’ rating for energy efficiency.

They consistently outperform the recommended minimum air-tightness standard which means they lose less heat and have fewer draughts, making them potentially cheaper to run than their older, second hand counterparts.

In fact they are 40% more energy efficient than homes built only a decade ago and 70% more economical than properties built before 1990.

Patsy Aicken, sales director for Redrow Homes (Yorkshire) commented: “The smart way to beat rising fuel costs this winter is to move to a brand new home that’s easy to manage and efficient to run.

“Around three years ago, a study by National Energy Services, commissioned by the New Homes Marketing Board, found living in a new home could save up to £556 a year on average energy bills compared with older-style homes. With the cost of gas and electricity due to rise by 18% this winter the average saving could now be even higher.”

Government regulations require new homes to be built to increasingly demanding environmental standards.

The homes at Danum St Giles include highly efficient heating systems with thermostatic heating control; state of the art double glazed doors and windows that are less draughty; ultra-effective wall and roof insulation; ground insulation to help keep floors warm; and energy-efficient light fittings. They also boast water-efficient kitchen and bathroom fittings for further savings.

“The cost of making an older property as energy efficient as one our new homes soon mounts up. To install a new heating system, loft insulation and new windows in a typical three-bedroom home would set you back almost £10,000,” Patsy added.

A choice of three and four-bedroom homes, including designs from Redrow’s sought-after New Heritage Collection, are now available at Danum St Giles, with prices from £157,999.

They all boast kitchens that are both practical and stylish with integrated top brand name appliances including microwave, oven and fridge freezer plus tall cupboards and extra wide drawers that offer plenty of storage space.

Family bathrooms and en-suite master bedrooms enjoy quality fixtures and fittings, with a tile range exclusive to Redrow.
