New homes in Bromley with just a 5% deposit

Taylor Wimpey’s FirstBuy scheme makes it easy for first-time buyers to step on the property ladder without saving for a big deposit – as Stefan and Olga Tanase discovered at the leading housebuilder’s Iconia development of apartments for sale in Bromley, Kent.

Despite saving hard to buy their first home, Stefan and Olga Tanase feared they were still some way short of the deposit they needed to step purchase their own property in Bromley.

However, that soon changed when they found out about the Government-backed FirstBuy initiative – and they discovered that home-ownership was within reach at Taylor Wimpey’s Iconia development of Bromley apartments.

This fantastic first-time buyer incentive offered the two 37-year-olds the chance to secure their choice of stunning flats for sale in Bromley at Iconia for just 80% of its full price, including a 5% deposit.

“FirstBuy was the most important factor for us, it meant we could afford to buy our own home much sooner that we had previously expected,” says Stefan (37) a Stock Auditor, recollecting the search for apartments in Bromley.

“The scheme is excellent and it really made the difference for us. Using FirstBuy was straightforward, it only took a matter of weeks for our application to be approved and made buying a property affordable. Soon after that, we were homeowners!”

Available with selected flats to buy in Bromley at Iconia, FirstBuy works thanks to a joint loan of 20% from the Homes and Communities Agency (HCA) and Taylor Wimpey, which eliminates the need for a big deposit and is repayable at the end of the 25-year mortgage or when the property is sold. To be eligible, purchasers must be first-time buyers and their total household earnings should be less than £60,000.

“We moved in on the 17th December, which gave us the chance to spend a lovely Christmas and New Year in our own home,” adds Stefan.

“It’s a two-bedroom apartment and there are so many things we like about it. Olga loves the large windows which let in plenty of light and it is very energy efficient. The layout is superb and the whole property has been designed and finished to a really high standard.”

A limited selection of properties is still available under FirstBuy at Iconia. For example, the one-bedroom Plot 2 apartment, priced £164,995, can be accessed by qualifying purchasers for an 80% FirstBuy price of just £131,996 – including a 5% deposit of as little as £8,250, subject to status!

Alternatively, selected two-bedroom apartments at the development can be secured with an 80% FirstBuy price of just £191,996.

All new homes at the development are completed to a high standard specification to include central heating, double glazing, fitted kitchen with integrated appliances and spotlights, plus spotlights and half-height tiling to en-suites and bathrooms.

Iconia lies within walking distance of the many shops, restaurants and leisure facilities of Bromley town centre, and is less than 16 miles from the centre of London.

Bromley South railway station, just a short walk from the development, operates frequent services to London Victoria station in about 16 minutes, while the development is perfectly situated for a number of universities, including the University of Greenwich and Goldsmiths University of London.

For international travellers, Iconia is only 25 miles from Gatwick Airport and 28 miles from Heathrow, both of which can be reached from the development by road or rail.

The development is also close to some of England’s most beautiful countryside, with rural Kent, Sussex and the South Downs just a short journey away.
