During his speech, Mr Ghosn made the following announcement: “The all-new GT-R will be built at our Tochigi assembly plant … and its unique, highly specialised, high-performance engine will be built at our Yokohama engine plant.” What that engine will be Mr Ghosn wasn’t saying. Nissan today inaugurated a new design studio complex that will serve as the central hub for the company’s global design activities. The new design studio covers an area of 42000m2 and is located at the Nissan Technical Center in Atsugi, Kanagawa Prefecture.

QASHQAI (say it ‘Cash-Kai’) blends the image of a coupé with the interior space of a hatchback and the strength of a 4x4. Nissan hopes it will steal buyers from the Volkswagen Golf – prices will therefore start at £13,499 for the 1.6 Visia rising to £21,899 for the 2.0dCi Tekna with automatic transmission and ALL-MODE 4x4.

Nissan opens new generation Global Training Center

Nissan has opened the Nissan Global Training Center (GTC) located at its Oppama Plant in Yokosuka City, Kanagawa Prefecture. The 300 million yen state-of-the-art facility has been established to train Nissan’s global manufacturing employees to become experts in the Nissan Production Way (NPW).
