BA subsidiary airline OpenSkies launches first commercial flight

British Airways subsidiary airline, OpenSkies, launched its first flight last week (June 19) between Paris Orly and New York JFK. OpenSkies is the first airline created specifically to take advantage of the EU US Open Skies aviation agreement that enables carriers to fly between any destinations in the EU and US. It will operate daily services between Paris and New York on Boeing 757 aircraft that will carry up to 82 passengers.

BA announces Air Mauritius share sale

British Airways has reached an agreement to sell its 10.5 per cent share in Air Mauritius for £3.2 million. The airline is selling its 3.84 per cent share in Air Mauritius Ltd to the Mauritian government and its 13.24 per cent share in Air Mauritius Holding Company Limited to existing shareholders. British Airways has held a 10.5 per cent share in Air Mauritius since 1973.

BA announces more longhaul flights to move into Terminal 5

British Airways and BAA have decided that, following the already announced move of some long haul flights from Terminal 4 to Terminal 5 on Thursday 5 June, 2008, the remaining long haul flights will move into Terminal 5 in two further phases. The first will take place on Wednesday September 17, 2008 and the second, at the end of October, 2008.

BA implements further fuel surcharge increase

British Airways will increase its fuel surcharge on all tickets issued from Tuesday June 3, 2008. BA states that the decision reflects continuing high oil prices.

BA confirms long haul switch for June

BAA and British Airways confirmed today that the first phase of the move of additional flights into Heathrow Terminal 5 will take place in June. Services to and from eight long-haul destinations will be switched from Terminal 4 to Terminal 5 on June 5.

JFK flights take-off from Gatwick

British Airways is boosting services from London to New York JFK by starting daily flights from Gatwick on Monday October 27, 2008. The new flights mean that the airline will fly 62 times each week from the capital to JFK as the Gatwick flights will operate in addition to 55 weekly flights from Heathrow.

New Dublin service direct from the Docklands

British Airways is further expanding its network at London City Airport with the launch of a new service to Dublin and increased frequency on some existing routes. The new three-a-day Dublin service will begin on June 1, providing an important air link between the two capital cities for both business and leisure passengers.

BA delays long haul move at T5

BAA and British Airways have announced that the planned move of the airline's long haul services from Terminal Four at Heathrow to Terminal Five will be deferred until June.
