British Airways ends UK franchises

British Airways is to end its franchise agreement with GB Airways from March 2008 and intends to start services on some of the routes operated under the franchise.

New Gatwick short haul routes for British Airways

British Airways is launching flights from Gatwick to Poznan in Poland and Antalya in Turkey next summer. There will be daily flights to Poznan from March 30, 2008 and three flights per week to Antalya from April 10, 2008.

Green light for aircraft orders

British Airways has placed an order for 12 Airbus A380 and 24 Boeing 787 aircraft with options for a further seven Airbus A380s and18 Boeing 787s. Both aircraft types will be powered by Rolls-Royce engines. The new aircraft will replace 34 of the airline's longhaul fleet and will be delivered between 2010 and 2014.

BA summer 2008 network changes

British Airways' summer 2008 route network focuses on increased US flights from Heathrow following the EU-US "Open Skies " aviation treaty which comes in to effect in March 2008.

US court approves BA investigation settlement

The US District Court for the District of Columbia has approved the August 1st plea agreement between British Airways and the Department of Justice (DoJ) on fines of $300 million for infringements of competition law in the company's longhaul passenger and cargo businesses.

BA Chooses IAE engines for A320 family aircraft order

British Airways has chosen International Aero Engines V2500 engines to power its eight new Airbus A320 family aircraft that will be delivered in 2008-2010. The airline has also signed a long-term maintenance agreement with IAE for the engines.

BA’s Texas flights move to Heathrow

British Airways has confirmed that its flights to Dallas Fort Worth and Houston will move from Gatwick to Heathrow from March 30, 2008 when the "Open Skies" aviation agreement starts. There will be a daily flight to Dallas Fort Worth and two flights each day to Houston, all of which will be operated on Boeing 777s.

Longhaul fuel surcharge increased

British Airways is to increase its longhaul fuel surcharge with effect from Wednesday June 13, 2007 as a result of further rises in the price of oil. The fuel surcharge on longhaul flights of less than nine hours will rise from £33 per sector (£66 return) to £38 (£76 return) and from £38 per sector to £43 (£86 return) on flights longer than nine hours.

BA announces working practice changes for Terminal 5

Agreement has been reached on new working practices for all 6,000 ground staff involved in the move to Heathrow’s Terminal 5, British Airways announced today. Willie Walsh, chief executive, said the final staff ballot, by check-in and customer service staff, had shown overwhelming support for new, more efficient ways of working, ahead of the move to British Airways’ new home in Terminal 5.

New 'green' ground fleet for Terminal 5

British Airways is to invest more than £25million on a new fleet of 550 airport vehicles as part of its move to Terminal 5 in March 2008. The new vehicles will replace older models and will help the airline to reduce its ground emissions at Heathrow and improve its punctuality performance.

British Airways is to move its Vancouver flights from London Heathrow Terminal 4 to Terminal 1 on June 1, 2007 to ease congestion and provide smoother connections for customers. British Airways operates 13 flights a week from London to Vancouver during the height of the summer season
