Aegean Airlines to launch London to Athens service
Aegean Airlines will commence a twice daily non-stop service from London Stansted Airport to Athens from 15 May 2008. Prices for a one way ticket from London to Athens start at £59, inclusive of all taxes. The Athens to Stansted route will be serviced by the brand new Airbus A321 which is configured with 195 seats in two classes and will offer a state of the art in-flight entertainment system.
Ryanair plans up to 40 redundancies in Dublin
Ryanair has announced that it plans to close its Dublin Telesales Operation (Ryanair Direct) at the end of May, which may lead to up to 40 redundancies as part of its cost reduction programme to combat record high ($100 per barrel) oil prices, while continuing to guarantee the lowest fares and no fuel surcharges for passengers.
Ryanair calls for break-up of “BAA monopoly”
Ryanair renewed its call for a break-up of the Spanish owned BAA airport monopoly following the opening of Heathrow’s Terminal 5 which Ryanair states has exposed more BAA incompetence, mismanagement and gold plating.
Ryanair extends lowest fare guarantee
Ryanair has extended its lowest fare guarantee to cover all bookings made up to and including 30th September. In addition, any passenger who makes a successful claim between now and September 30th will be entered into a draw to win £10,000 cash.
Ryanair announces cost cuts as fuel hits $100 a barrel
Ryanair, has confirmed that it was freezing the pay of its senior management for 2008 as part of a series of cost cutting measures over the coming weeks as the price of oil rises to over $100 a barrel. From 1st April Ryanair’s current $68 per barrel fuel hedges, expire.

50 years of Austrian – 50 years of successful aviation

Aer Lingus increases fuel surcharge on long haul routes
Aer Lingus is to increase its long haul fuel surcharge on routes to the US, effective from Saturday, 29 March 2008. The increase is as a direct result of the record upsurge in the price of oil in recent weeks and the airline's rising fuel bill. The fuel surcharge will increase on flights to and from Ireland to Orlando, San Francisco and Los Angeles.
Aer Lingus reports strong Easter sales
Aer Lingus expects to carry in excess of 125,000 passengers into and out of Ireland across all of the airline's routes to and from the UK, Europe and the United States over this busy Easter Bank Holiday period, Friday 21st to Monday 24th March inclusive. This is an increase of nearly 20% from Easter last year.
airBaltic completes introduction of e-Ticket
The Latvian national airline airBaltic completed the introduction of E-tickets last week. From now on, all passengers will be able to board their flights without a paper ticket, not only to direct destinations served by airBaltic, but also on an increasing number of connections.
Ambitious recruitment plans for Air France
Due to growth in Air France activity and staff retirements, more pilots are being recruited and trained. Following on from an annual recruitment rate of 130 pilots between 2003 and 2006, Air France recruited 260 pilots in 2007 and will recruit close to 300 more pilots in 2008 and 2009.
Star Alliance gears up for terminal moves at Heathrow
Star Alliance is preparing to start implementation of its long anticipated 'Move under one Roof' project at London’s Heathrow Airport. Realisation will be in various phases, with the first commencing in April this year and completion expected in 2012.
