Scania has acquired its Portuguese distributor
Scania has reached an agreement with Cimpomóvel Veículos Pesados, S.A. to acquire its truck and bus distribution system in Portugal from April this year. The transaction covers a nationwide sales and service network, encompassing six wholly owned dealerships. These operations have 250 employees.

DAF named 'Best Coach Engine Producer of the Year 2007'
Bus World Asia is one of the world's most prestigious bus and coach shows. DAF was declared 'Best Coach Engine Producer of the Year 2007' at the event in Shanghai. The pioneering reliability and durability of the 9.2-litre PACCAR PR engine and the 12.9-litre PACCAR MX, combined with the favourable fuel consumption they exhibit, helped DAF take the title. Chair of the panel Martial Benoot declared: "These features make the PACCAR engines developed and manufactured by DAF ideal for buses and coaches".

Volvo says Yuan in safe hands
Volvo Truck Corporation has received an order for 76 distribution trucks from the People’s Bank of China, contributing to a total fleet of 425 Volvo trucks already owned by the Bank – the largest single Volvo fleet in China.

Kier Plant goes Volvo with FM-380 rigids
Kier Plant – an arm of leading construction, development and service group, Kier – has taken delivery of two Volvo FM-380 6x2 Euro 4 rigid trucks, basing the decision on Volvo’s reputation in the industry. Operating from depots at Liverpool and Sharpness and running at 26 tonnes GVW, the trucks will be used for transporting temporary site accommodation, telehandlers and general plant.

Scania opens component paint shop in Netherlands
Today Scania inaugurates a new facility for painting cab and chassis parts in Meppel, the Netherlands. Trucks painted according to the special wishes of each transport company is a growing business. With in-house component painting operations, Scania will take advantage of that potential. The paint shop will have 150 employees when in full operation.
