Semillon Blanc: The revolutionary wine perfect for summer

Crisp, highly aromatic and packed full of flavour, the McGuigan Classic Semillon Blanc is the revolutionary wine that’s perfect to enjoy this summer with friends and family… whatever the weather.

With plans to transform the Australian wine category and with a passion for popular Australian grape variety Semillon, award-winning winemaker Neil McGuigan made it his personal challenge to develop a more innovative wine style to take on the popularity of New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc.

Whilst forging a new trend in wine drinking, the McGuigan Classic Semillon Blanc will be taking on rival, long-established ‘hero’ white wines, such as Chardonnay and the Italian Pinot Grigio, which have been so popular with wine drinkers in recent years.

Overall Semillon category sales have risen 51% year on year within the UK over the last twelve months, and the McGuigan Classic Semillon Blanc accounted for 52% of all Australian Semillon sales in the UK.

Neil McGuigan says: “Our main objective here was to develop something new and unique that would lead the way for Australian wine styles to evolve through innovation and challenge the market’s celebrated varieties.  As a recognisable class ‘A’ grape variety, Semillon ticks all the boxes.

In creating The Semillon Blanc, specific winemaking techniques have been used to soften the style and produce the next generation of aromatic white wine with notes of fresh citrus and a delightfully rich, floral perfume. Packed full of delicious fruit flavours that linger nicely on the palate it’s complemented with a zippy, citrus finish.

The Semillon Blanc is available at Tesco and Sainsbury’s at RRP £7.99 produced by McGuigan Wines, the makers of the ‘Best International Semillon’ in the 2011 IWSC awards.
