On the eve of Malbec World Day the latest Nielsen figures (ending 30 March 2014) show that Trivento Malbec has burst into the top 5 Argentinean wine brands in the UK off-trade, growing at 204% in value vs. 21% in category growth.

This places Trivento, part of the Concha y Toro UK (CyTUK) portfolio, with a 3.4% category share to make it the 3rd largest Argentinean brand in Grocery Multiples, including Tesco, Sainsburys and Ocado.

This follows record results from 2013 where the brand saw an outstanding 230% total sales increase across Grocery Multiples. The increased awareness of Argentinean wines, especially the Malbec varietal, has been instrumental in the significant growth of Trivento.

Trivento’s Reserve Malbec 2012 has led the increase, however the entire range that includes Trivento Golden Reserve and top wine Eolo, has contributed to the acceleration of sales.

Simon Doyle, General Manager of CyTUK says “Malbec World Day is a very appropriate occasion to celebrate Trivento’s amazing growth in rate of sale over the past 12 months. Of the Top 5 Argentine brands in growth, Trivento has the highest average retail, so we’re driving category value as well. With increased marketing focus on the brand now beginning to show results, the future for Trivento is very bright indeed.”

Award Winning Taste
It’s not just the sales that are receiving attention. Trivento Malbec 2013 and Golden Reserve Malbec 2011 both won silver at the Argentinean Wine Awards 2014, announced earlier this month.

The Rise Of The Malbec
There is a growing appreciation in the UK that wine from Argentina offers great quality and exceptional value, which will be celebrated on Malbec World Day on 17 April 2014 and at ‘Cambalache – One Night in Argentina’ hosted in London on 30 April & 1 May 2014.

Andrew Maidment, UK & Europe Manager of Wines of Argentina comments, “Argentina is currently making great strides in the UK. We're attracting a young, affluent consumer as Malbec in particular positions itself as an on-trend choice for wine drinkers up and down the country”.
