Anniversary Wines Go Under The Hammer At Bonhams
Bonhams’ forthcoming Sale of Fine Wines at 101 New Bond Street, London, on 27 June, features a collection of remarkable vintages from 1927, 1937, 1947, 1957, 1967 and 1977 – perfect for anniversaries being celebrated this year. Many of these wines have been sourced from a very well-appointed, temperature-controlled private cellar and include rare and remarkable bottles including Chateau d’Yquem 1937 and 1947, Margaux and Cheval Blanc 1947, and Romanee-Conti 1957. There are also several bottles from other vendors including another bottle of Yquem 1937, Barolo and a magnum of Beaune 1947 and a double-magnum of Gruaud Larose 1957.
A fine selection of wines from Pomerol will also be going under the hammer, many of which will be shipped direct from Bordeaux following the sale. These lots offer the opportunity to buy wines in pristine condition and with perfect provenance from Chateaux such as Beau Soleil, La Croix du Casse and Petit Village at very advantageous prices.
The sale also features other rare wines, such as Chateau Margaux, Cheval Blanc, Yquem and Beaune Clos des Feves all from the wonderful 1921 vintage as well as a fine selection of mature Champagne, back to a bottle of 1947 Pol Roger.
A further highlight of the sale is a collection of first growth claret of the magnificent 1982 vintage from a private cellar on the Continent. These wines have been expertly stored since purchase and come with perfect provenance.
Another private European cellar offers Chateau Leoville-Las-Cases 1986 in magnums, Margaux 1995 and Ausone 1996. A good range of wines from some of Australia’s leading wineries will also be sold.
CHANGE IN BUYERS’ PREMIUM
Bonhams will increase its Buyers’ Premium on wine sales at New Bond Street from 10% to 15% on 1st September 2007. This decision is taken reluctantly to maintain the company’s competitive edge in this market and to reflect current market conditions. The premium for this sale, however, remains at 10%.
